Puno to Cusco 12th-14th March 2007

Puno was a bit of a dump. We didn´t get a chance to visit Uros-the floating islands. We caught the Inka Express bus to Cusco; it was a long journey but we stopped off at some interesting points along the way. The highest point of the journey was La Raya at 4335m. As we descended down from the Altiplano, where it is quite barren and reaches -25c in winter, the landscape became more lush and fertile.

We reached Cusco which seems quite nice, as it is touristy (and therefore a bit more civilised). There are some nice cafes with balconies around the central plaza. We have done a bit of shopping but even though Steve lost his entire backpack his new suitcase is already full!
